Academic suspension

Appeal

If you are placed on academic suspension, you have the option to appeal if extenuating circumstances impacted your academic performance (e.g., illness, hospitalization, death in the family). The appeals process begins via an online submission. You must explain the reasons for your unsatisfactory performance and upload a letter detailing your plan of action to improve your academic record. You may also upload supporting documentation. Instructions are included on the online appeals form. Online appeals must be received no later than the Monday two weeks prior to the semester in which you wish to return.

Submit a suspension appeal

Once a decision has been made, you will be notified by the RCASH Dean's Office. To find your academic status, log onto My.MissouriState.edu. Go to the Registration tab, then My Registration channel. Select the Registration Status link. If you are reinstated, you will need to follow the conditions of the reinstatement listed under Academic Status. If you have not already registered for classes, you will need to contact your Academic Advisor.

Reinstatement

If you do not wish to appeal your suspension or an appeal is not granted, you may apply for reinstatement at the end of one semester of absence (excluding the summer semester) unless you were previously suspended. If previously suspended, you may apply for reinstatement after one full year.

At the time of reinstatement, you will be required to contact Admissions and Records to make sure you are admitted to Missouri State University. You will then need to request reinstatement to RCASH via an online reinstatement form. You must explain the reasons for your unsatisfactory performance and upload a letter detailing your plan of action to improve your academic record. You will be notified if you are required to meet with a member of the RCASH Dean’s Office.
